Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the Game and its online services use, why, who can see it, how long it is kept and what you can do about it. The Game is a free, non-commercial fan project. It has no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and your information is never sold.
1. Who is responsible
The Game is developed and run by Aziah ("we", "us"). For any question or request about your information, email aziah@projectmdrivals.x10.mx.
The Game is an unofficial fan work and is not affiliated with Glitch Productions or Epic Games.
2. Information kept on your computer
The Game saves the following only on your own computer, in its folder. We do not receive it:
- your settings (graphics, audio, controls and key bindings);
- your pilot name, drone look, Locker loadouts, pilot level and career statistics;
- log files and, if the Game crashes, a crash report. Crash reports are not sent anywhere; they stay on your computer unless you choose to send one to us yourself.
Deleting the Game's folder removes all of it.
3. Signing in with Epic (Epic Online Services)
Signing in with an Epic Games account is optional. It is used for internet parties (lobbies), joining friends and friend invites. When you sign in, Epic Games asks for your permission and then shares with the Game:
- your Epic account ID and display name (to show who is in a party);
- your online presence and your Epic friends list (to show which friends are online and let you invite them);
- lobby information while you host or join a party (party members, the match being played).
The Game uses this only while it is running and does not store your friends list. We never see your Epic password. Sign-in, lobbies and the connection between players are provided by Epic Games, Inc. under the Epic Games Privacy Policy. You can remove the Game's access at any time in your Epic account settings under Apps and Accounts.
4. Pilot accounts
Pilot accounts are optional (you can also play as a guest). If you create one, our account service stores:
- your email address and pilot name;
- your password, stored only as a scrypt hash (we cannot read it);
- your Locker loadout and profile, so they follow you to another computer;
- sign-in records (time, type of event such as sign-in or password reset, and the IP address it came from) to protect accounts against password guessing and abuse.
Your email address is used only to send verification and password-reset codes. We do not send newsletters or marketing. Verification and reset codes are stored only in a scrambled (hashed) form and expire after 15 minutes.
5. Playing online: parties, servers, chat and voice
- Connections. When you join a party or a server, your computer connects to the player or server hosting the match. Like any online game, the host can see your IP address. A party code contains the host's address so that friends can connect; only share it with people you want to play with.
- Nearby parties. On a local network the Game announces open parties so that players on the same network can see them.
- What other players see. Your pilot name, your drone, your level, your banner and your match statistics are visible to the other players in the match.
- Text chat is sent to the players in the match and is not stored by us.
- Voice chat is push-to-talk by default: your microphone only sends while you hold the talk key. It is streamed live to players in the match and is not recorded or stored. Other players' voices can be turned down to zero in Settings.
- Servers run by players. Players can host their own servers. Their log files can contain the names and connection addresses of players who joined. We do not control servers run by other people.
6. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or trackers. Our web host may keep standard server logs (such as IP address, time and page requested) for security and to run the service.
7. Who your information is shared with
- Epic Games, if you sign in with Epic (see section 3).
- Other players in your matches, as described in section 5.
- Service providers that run our account service and send its emails, only to provide that service.
- Authorities, only if the law requires it.
We do not sell or rent your information and we do not use it for advertising.
8. How long it is kept
- Pilot accounts: until you delete your account or ask us to.
- Sign-in records: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Sign-in sessions: 30 days (signing out ends them earlier).
- Verification and reset codes: 15 minutes.
- Information on your computer: until you delete it.
- Epic account information: handled by Epic Games under its own policy.
9. Your choices and rights
You can play without any account. You can ask us to show you, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you, or object to how we use it, by emailing aziah@projectmdrivals.x10.mx. We answer within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the European Union, the United Kingdom or California) these are also legal rights, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Where the law asks for a legal basis: we use account information to provide the account you asked for (contract), sign-in records to keep accounts safe (legitimate interest), and Epic sign-in only with your permission (consent), which you can withdraw at any time.
10. Children
The Game contains violence between robots (oil and lost limbs, which can be reduced in Settings) and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created a pilot account, email us and we will delete it.
11. Security
Passwords and codes are stored only as hashes, accounts are locked for a short time after repeated wrong passwords, and sign-in sessions expire. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a password you do not use elsewhere.
12. Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Questions or requests: aziah@projectmdrivals.x10.mx.
